Your Child was Purposefully Created in the Image of God

In a world where the issue of abortion remains deeply divisive, Christians are called to uphold the sanctity of human life and advocate for the most vulnerable among us.

The decision to choose life over abortion is one that aligns with the core principles of our faith – cherishing God's creation, valuing every human being, and offering hope, love, and support to those facing challenging circumstances.

In this blog, we will explore the Christian perspective on choosing life, emphasizing compassion, understanding, and the belief in the inherent worth and dignity of every individual.

Embracing the Gift of Life:

As Christians, we believe that life is a sacred gift bestowed upon us by our Creator. From the moment of conception, a unique and precious life begins to develop, bearing the image of God. Each human being is fearfully and wonderfully made, deserving of love, protection, and the opportunity to fulfill their God-given purpose. Choosing life means recognizing and celebrating this incredible gift, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy.

The Sanctity of Human Life:

The bible repeatedly affirms the value and sanctity of human life. Scriptures such as Psalm 139:13-16 and Jeremiah 1:5 remind us that God intimately knows and plans the lives of His children even before they are born. Psalm 139:13-16 says, 13 "for you created my inmost being;

you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

your works are wonderful,

I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you

when I was made in the secret place,

when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;

all the days ordained for me were written in your book

before one of them came to be."

Jeremiah 1:5 says,

5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knewyou,

before you were born I set you apart;

I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

It is our responsibility, as followers of Christ, to protect and defend the vulnerable, including the unborn. By choosing life, we actively participate in God's divine plan and demonstrate our commitment to upholding the dignity of all human beings.

Cultivating a Culture of Compassion and Support:

Choosing life does not mean simply advocating against abortion but also actively supporting women and families facing unplanned pregnancies. It requires us to embrace a culture of compassion, where we provide practical assistance, emotional support, and resources to those in need.

As Christians, we can extend a helping hand, offering alternatives to abortion such as adoption, counseling, healthcare, and parenting support. By embodying Christ's love and walking alongside individuals in difficult situations, we can empower them to make life-affirming choices.

Forgiveness, Healing, and Restoration:

Acknowledging that some may have chosen abortion in the past, it is essential to approach the topic with grace and understanding. Our faith teaches us that God is a God of forgiveness and redemption. For those who have experienced the pain and regret of abortion, the message of hope and healing is available through Jesus Christ. The church must be a place of compassion, offering avenues for repentance, reconciliation, and restoration, where individuals can find healing and a renewed sense of purpose.

Choosing life is not merely an ideological stance; it is a reflection of our commitment to following Christ's example of love, compassion, and grace.

By embracing the sanctity of human life, supporting those facing unplanned pregnancies, and offering forgiveness and healing to those affected by abortion, we can actively live out our faith and promote a culture that cherishes and protects all lives. May we continually strive to be advocates for life, embracing the incredible gift of God's creation, and embodying His love to a hurting world.
