"Terminating my Pregnancy was Never an Option."

Life is full of uncertainties, and sometimes we are faced with heartbreaking news that challenges our faith and understanding of God's plan. One such situation is receiving a life-limiting pregnancy diagnosis.

In the midst of fear, confusion, and anguish, the question of whether termination should be considered may arise. Sometimes even doctors and medical professionals that you trusted will push this narrative that terminaton is your "only option". As Christians, we are called to embrace the sanctity of life and trust in God's sovereignty, even in the most challenging situations.

As a bereaved mother myself, I know this pain.

Not knowing whether your child will be born alive. Not knowing if you will have minutes or hours or days with your child. If you are here reading this because you, too, have recieved unsettling news about your precious baby.. I want you to know this.

Termination of a pregnancy does not take the pain away, if anything it intensifies it.

Know that every second, minute, hour or even days you could have with your baby are all worth it. Every day of your pregnancy with your sweet child safe inside of your womb is worth it. And, I promise, you will wish you could relive it.

I, personally, know so many families who were given a life-limiting diagnosis during pregnancy and their babies defied the odds and came out breathing. Many families had their doctors tell them they their children wouldn't live through birth - but God!

These babies fought and gave their families hours together. Some even days together. Today, we will explore the reasons why termination should never be seen as an option, offering hope, comfort, and a perspective rooted in faith.

Trusting in God's Plan

As believers, we firmly stand on the truth that God has a plan for each and every life, regardless of its duration. Every child, regardless of the diagnosis, carries a unique purpose in His divine scheme.

We must remember that our understanding of life's purpose is limited, while God sees the bigger picture. Trusting in His plan allows us to honor and cherish every moment of our child's life, no matter how brief.

The Value of Life

Every life is intrinsically valuable and deserving of love and respect. As Christians, we are called to affirm the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.

Our faith teaches us that life is a gift from God, and it is not within our human authority to determine its worth based on medical prognoses.

By choosing to embrace the life growing within us, we honor the Creator and acknowledge His ultimate authority over life and death. We, also, stand on the truth that our God is still the God of miracles.

Embracing Compassion and Love

When faced with a life-limiting diagnosis, it is natural to experience a range of emotions, including fear, anxiety, and sadness. However, rather than succumbing to despair, we can choose to respond with compassion and hope.

Our child, no matter the circumstances, deserves our love and protection. We may not understand why or what comes next, but by choosing to put our hope and trust in Jesus we allow God to work through us and carry us through the unknown.

A Journey of Faith

Facing a life-limiting pregnancy diagnosis is undoubtedly an immense challenge that tests our faith. However, it is precisely during these times that our relationship with God deepens and our faith is strengthened.

By walking this difficult journey with God, we allow Him to transform our pain into purpose, drawing us closer to Him. Your decision to choose God during a time of heartbreak and pain is commendable.

It would be easy to turn your back on Him and, even, blame Him for this diagnosis. The real strength is in choosing to believe that God is still good. The real strength is in choosing to believe that your child was made by design from the Creator of the heavens and earth.

Your child was not made on accident. Your child was fearfully and wonderfully made and has a great purpose.

If you are pregnant and your baby has recently recieved a life-limiting diagnosis, know that you aren't alone in your pregnancy. Our partners at Abel Speaks would love to walk with you and support you in this journey as you choose life for your child. Their support for families changes stories.
